Looking Ahead: A New Season for Our Co-op
As we turn the page and enter our 5th year with Foothills Freethinkers, we are full of excitement for what’s ahead! We’re returning to our roots—back to the mountains, back to the land, and back to the simple joy of meeting together in nature.
Most Wednesdays, we’ll gather on our little mountain homestead, surrounded by trees, fresh air, and wide-open space for the kids to run, build, and create. Here, we can slow down, dig into hands-on projects, and enjoy the freedom that comes from being outside together. Interlaced through the month, we’ll still head out for 1–2 field trips, keeping the spirit of adventure alive while grounding our co-op in the steady rhythm of home and land.

We just wrapped up our planning meeting, and the calendar is already brimming with wonderful things: co-op campouts for next summer, our beloved solstice celebrations in both winter and summer, and special gatherings like snow sports day, sledding adventures, field day, hot springs trips, and cozy afternoons filled with crafts, experiments, and creative projects.
What excites us most is the community we’re building—not just for our kids, but for all of us. Each week we show up for one another, share in the laughter and the work, and watch our children grow in confidence, curiosity, and connection.
We also have room for a few more families this year! Our co-op is best suited for families with kids ages 10 and up, though younger siblings are always welcome. If you’ve been looking for a like-minded community, we’d love to meet you.

Our first big event of the year will be Field Day on September 10th—a day of games, activities, and fun for the whole family. Prospective families are warmly invited to join us. Please reach out for details if you’d like to come and see what our community is all about.
Here’s to another year of freedom, friendship, and learning—rooted in the mountains and carried forward by the spirit of togetherness.
